Funeral Service for Hieromonk Pedro Medina Bazan

On March 14, 2024, Hieromonk Pedro Medina Bazan, Rector of the Spanish-speaking Mission of St. Sebastian in Miami, reposed in the Lord.

On March 18, Archimandrite Alexander, Vicar of the Slavic Orthodox Vicariate and Bishop-elect of Nicopolis, performed the funeral service for Hieromonk Pedro, which took place in a funeral home in Miami, at the request of his relatives.  Archpriest Maxim Pliskov, clergyman of the St. Matrona Cathedral in Miami, also participated.  The service was conducted in Church Slavonic, English and Spanish. 

Many of the faithful came to give their last farewell to the newly reposed hieromonk. These included representatives of the Slavic Orthodox Vicariate, parishioners from the Cathedral of St. Matrona, and Spanish-speaking believers. 

At the end of the service, Archimandrite Alexander thanked everyone who came to pray for the soul of Fr. Pedro and see him off on his last journey.  He also shared memories of Fr. Pedro with whom he served for many years.  On behalf of the clergy and faithful of the Slavic Orthodox Vicariate, the Vicar expressed condolences to his daughter, relatives, spiritual children and everyone who knew Father Pedro.
