Vicar of the Slavic Orthodox Vicariate meets with Archbishop and bishop of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia
March 24, 2023On March 24, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America met with Bishop Isaiah of Sumperk, Vicar of the Olomouc-Brno Diocese of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in Manhattan.
The meeting was also attended by the Vicar of the Slavic Orthodox Vicariate of America, Archimandrite Alexander, at whose invitation Bishop Isaiah was on pilgrimage to the United States with his mother, Eva.
During the meeting the hierarchs discussed the present situations of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in America and the Orthodox Church in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
At the conclusion, they exchanged gifts of panagias (hierarchical medallions). Bishop Isaiah also presented Archbishop Elpidophoros with a crystal apple, as a symbol of New York City, made by Bohemian craftsmen.
After the meeting, Bishop Isaiah was taken on a tour by Archimandrite Alexander of the Orthodox churches and the sights of New York city.
