В день памяти святой Матроны в Майамском соборе отметили престольный праздник

Patron Saint Day at St. Matrona’s Cathedral

November 22, 2024

Every year on November 22, the patronal feast is celebrated at St. Matrona’s Cathedral in Miami, Florida.

On that day, the Church remembers the birthday of Blessed St. Matrona of Moscow, one of the most revered Saints of the 20th century. Yet, only one church in all of America is dedicated to the Saint, namely  St. Matrona’s Cathedral in Dania Beach, Miami, Fl.  The festive Divine Liturgy was led by His Grace Bishop-elect Alexander of Nicopolis and the Vicar of the Slavic Orthodox Vicariate who is also Rector of St. Matron’s Cathedral, in concelebration with the Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Olexander Belya, Rector of St. John the Baptist and the Forerunner Cathedral in Brooklyn, New York, as well as with Archpriest Ivan Voloshchuk, Rector of the Church of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco in Jacksonville, Florida, Archpriest Aleksandar Bozhinov, cleric of the Monastery of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Fort Myers, Florida and Priest Ivan Zeikan.

At the end of the Liturgy, Protopresbyter Alexander gave a sermon on the holiday. Then, a prayer service was held before the icon and the relics of Saint Matrona with petitions from the parishioners for their Patron’s help, for peace and blessing of Florida and its residents. Bishop-elect Alexander of Nicopolis thanked the priests for coming and participating in the festive service in honor of the Patron Saint of the St. Matrona’s Cathedral. The Rector thanked the singers and parishioners for their joint prayers and asked Saint Matrona’s help be present in their life and in their chosen path to the Kingdom of Heaven.
