September 23, 2025

On September 23, a Patriarchal audience and meeting with hierarchs, clergy, and monastics of the American Archdiocese took place at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in New York.

Before the meeting began, the Vicar of the Slavic Vicariate, Archimandrite Alexander (Belya), Bishop-elect of Niсopolis, greeted His All-Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew and presented him with a bouquet of white roses.

During the meeting, Archimandrite Alexander informed Patriarch Bartholomew about the development and current state of affairs in the Vicariate. This year marks the sixth anniversary of the Slavic Vicariate, which currently comprises 12 parishes served by 23 priests, 2 deacons, and 3 nuns. Father Alexander thanked His All-Holiness for his wise decision and blessing to establish the Vicariate, in which priests of different Slavic traditions find refuge under the omophorion of the Ecumenical Patriarch.

Archimandrite Alexander, on behalf of the clergy, monastics, and laity of the Slavic Vicariate, presented His All-Holiness with a panagia bearing the image of the Christ Savior, thanking him for his support and prayers.
