Archimandrite Alexander, Vicar of the Slavic Vicariate, prayerfully celebrated the day of the heavenly patron saint
December 26, 2025On December 25, Archimandrite Alexander (Belya), Vicar of the Slavic Vicariate and rector of St. Matrona Cathedral in Miami, elected Bishop of Nicopolis, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the church.
On this day, according to the Julian calendar, the memory of the holy martyr Alexander of Jerusalem, St. Spyridon of Trimythous, and St. Herman of Alaska is celebrated. In some Churches, the Synaxis of American Saints is celebrated. For the parish of the Miami Cathedral, this day is historic—14 years ago, the first service was held in the first church of St. Matrona.
Father Alexander was assisted in the Liturgy by Cleric of St. Nicholas Monastery in Fort Myers, Florida Archpriest Eduard Chervinskiy, rector of the Life-Giving Spring Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas Archpriest Vasily Babych, and cleric of the Miami Cathedral Priest John Zeikan.

After the glorification at the end of the Liturgy, the rector was congratulated on his name day by his fellow clergy, the parish warden Ivan, the sisterhood, and the parishioners. From the Monastery of St. Nicholas in Fort Myers, Sister Zlata presented Father Alexander with a hand-painted icon of the Kykkos Icon of the Mother of God, one of the main shrines of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus
