On the Easter night, April 18 to 19, 2020, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew led the festive divine service at the Cathedral of St. George on Phanar in Istanbul.
The clergy of the Patriarchal Court co-served His All-Holiness. The Feast of the Bright Resurrection of Christ was celebrated with special splendor and in accordance with the old church tradition.
After the service, Patriarch Bartholomew sent a message to the Church for the feast of Holy Easter. The Arch-Pastoral Word was addressed especially to the young people to whom he dedicated the current year 2020. His All-Holiness made a special mention of the Orthodox youth living in Turkey, among various ethnic minorities, living under the protection of the Patriotic Mother-Church of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called.
On April 19, in the morning of Easter Sunday, Patriarch Bartholomew celebrated Vespers at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George.
During the service, the Gospel was read in different languages.
In his sermon, His All-Holiness addressed the members of the Church with consolation and support, especially those who this year and , for the first time, found themselves far from church during the days of the Resurrection of Christ.
